PermitBeam is operated by Alex Colombo. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
What We Collect
Account information
- Email address — required to deliver your permit digests
- Name — if you provide it during signup
- ZIP code preferences — the areas you want to monitor
- Payment information — processed securely through Stripe (we never see or store your card number)
Usage data
- Analytics — we use PostHog to understand how people use the site (page views, feature usage). PostHog is privacy-focused and does not sell data.
- Advertising — we use Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our ads on Facebook and Instagram. You can opt out of Meta tracking through your Facebook ad preferences.
What We Don't Do
- We don't sell your personal data to anyone
- We don't share your email with third-party marketers
- We don't use your data for purposes beyond delivering and improving the PermitBeam service
- We don't store credit card numbers (Stripe handles all payment processing)
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted services to run PermitBeam:
- Stripe — payment processing. They have their own privacy policy.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (sends your digests and account emails)
- PostHog — product analytics (helps us understand usage patterns)
- Meta (Facebook) — advertising pixel for measuring ad performance
- Vercel — website hosting
- Supabase — database hosting (your account data)
Data Retention
We keep your account data for as long as you have an active subscription. If you cancel, we retain your data for 30 days in case you change your mind, then delete it.
If you want your data deleted immediately, email us and we'll handle it within 48 hours.
Cookies
We use minimal cookies:
- Essential cookies — to keep you logged in and remember your preferences
- Analytics cookies — PostHog, for understanding site usage
- Advertising cookies — Meta Pixel, for measuring ad performance
No third-party advertising cookies beyond Meta Pixel. No cookie consent walls (we don't use enough tracking to warrant one, but you can block cookies in your browser settings at any time).
Your Rights
You can:
- Access your data — email us and we'll send you everything we have
- Correct your data — update your email or ZIP preferences anytime
- Delete your data — email us and we'll remove everything within 48 hours
- Export your data — we'll provide it in a standard format on request
Security
Your data is stored in Supabase with row-level security enabled. All connections use HTTPS encryption. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.
We take reasonable precautions to protect your information, but no internet service is 100% secure. If we ever discover a data breach that affects you, we'll notify you promptly.
Changes to This Policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll email active subscribers before the changes take effect. Minor clarifications (typos, formatting) may be made without notice.
